Soft Loan.
We acquired the Land Rover on soft loan from a close relative of Nora (my wife). Soft loan meaning we pay for it as we can. This has made it a lot easier to do the restoration, as all Land Rover owners outside of the UK will know that parts and expertise is hard to find.
Here I must start with giving two big plugs to people and companies who have made the restoration possible so far.
The first is En. Mohd. Shaharul B. Zain of the Land Rover Club of Malaysia.
We saw an article in one of the local newspapers about a trek they had done with the Singapore LR Club and from this we got Shaharul's e-mail address. On contacting him he has been no end of help and suggestions.
The following workshop is recommended by Shararul, although I have never used them.
Rainforest Autos.
No 14, Jalan Tago 12,
Taman Perindustrian Tago,
Sri Damansara KL.
Tel (+603) 637 9957 The contact person is Mr VIcky or Mr Ah Tek. 2163 4092.
Second and probably the most important is,
Alat-Alat Ganti Kenderaan HAN LAND SHEN AUTO SDN. BHD.
The contact persons' are Chan (Jac) and Wong.
They stock Genuine LR and Replacement parts. They have assisted with everything from advising and offering to take us to a local manufacturer who can make the rear bench seats as close as possible to original, to just sitting and talking about Land Rovers.
After having tried Land Rovers official distributor here in the Klang Valley and been so shocked at the lack of parts stocked, it seemed everything we wanted had to be bought in and priced as if they were for a Mercedes, we were most grateful to be lead to HAN LAND SHEN by Sharharul.
We do not know if they have an e-mail address but their Office/Warehouse is at,
17-1, Jalan 5/18A,
Taman Mastiara,
Jalan Ipoh, Batu 5,
51200 KL.
